Kathryn Monroe, busy activist and socialite, humors her mother by agreeing to attend her costume ball at the ancestral mansion in South Carolina. What she doesn't admit, even to herself, is that she actually looks forward to a break from the frenetic pace of her increasingly shallow lifestyle. She gets much more of a break than she anticipated when she passes the grandfather clock on the landing, on her way downstairs to the party, only to be transported to 1825, where she is mistaken for the girl who would become her great-great-great-great-great grandmother! Even more shocking, she finds herself falling for a man her counterpart despised.
Catherine Prescott feels increasingly trapped as her parents try to push her into an unwanted marriage and pile restriction after restriction upon her activities in their efforts to turn her into a proper young lady. But on her way downstairs to an important social function, she passes the grandfather clock on the landing and discovers herself in the twenty-first century, where it appears everything she ever dreamed of--and more--has come true. To make this amazing new world even sweeter, she seems to have found her soulmate in a man her identical descendant never cared for.
But will capricious Fate allow each to find happiness in another time?

New? Old? Who Cares? It's a Fun, Well-Told Story
By Dr. Keith J. Caserta
First off, referencing another review of this novel, I don't know if this book was released before or not, but I see nothing wrong with an author re-releasing a book - and I don't see anything wrong with an author (I am one) making money, either.
This is a well-written, fun story. I liked the setting (old and new Columbia, SC), and became quite fond of the characters. Two women exchange times - a vehicle that's been done before. However, where the authors of these stories tend to favor one character over the other (usually, the one who travels to the past), this author does a very good job of balancing the development of both characters. As a result, the reader is treated to a well-thought-out reaction of a modern woman to 1825, and an equally-cogent view of a woman from the past reacting to the modern world. It's refreshingly intricate in its treatment of both.
The story line is fun, with sufficient twists and turns to keep the readers on their toes. And the ending is satisfying and complete for all the characters. The period pieces (past and present) are thoughtful, colorful, and accurately reflect the main characters' reaction to each.
I recommend this without reservation. If you've read it before, you'll enjoy it again. If you're a first-time reader like I was, you're in for a treat.

Beautiful Story
By Annicken
I love how the author introduced a story with 2 heroes and 2 heroines - something that I don't think it's been done before especially when Catherine of 1825 travelled through the present and meet the love of her life. The story is filled with whimsy, courage and love especially from the point of views from the characters! I don't want to ruin the story for the other readers but let me just say that this is one of the best time travel books I've ever read in which the author utilized a different approach in that travel time through the consciousness, very unique!!
