About the Author
Gareth Morgan is well known for his creative contributions to management. He is the author of seven books, including Images of Organization, Creative Organization Theory, Imaginization and Riding the Waves of Change. He acts as consultant and seminar leader to numerous organizations throughout Europe and North America, and is Distinguished Research Professor at York University in Toronto. He has sat on the editorial boards of the Academy of Management, and Organization Studies; and is a Life Fellow of the International Academy of Management. Born in Wales, he now lives in Toronto with his wife, Karen and their children Evan and Heather.

The book "Looking for a Mr. Kim in Seoul" is a welcome addition to the growing list of English language books on Korean culture. As a collection of Korean proverbs, it is an unique contribution to our understanding of Korean ethos and psyche. There may be similar publications in Korean but this is the first in English that I have come across. The selection and coverage of Korean "expressions" are comprehensive for a relatively small book. I am impressed by the number and the variety of topics that the authors have collected. The English translations are incisive and, above all, very readable. The extended commentaries, including some etymological notes on obscure words, are readily understandable and enjoyable even for readers with little previous knowledge of Korean culture. A job well done. This book is helpful for students of Korean culture, history, language and ethnography, from the high school level on up. It is an enjoyable introduction to aspects of Korean history and recent politics as well as various customs and rituals. It will make an excellent supplementary reading for students in senior high schools and colleges studying non-Western culture and history. About the Author
SANG-HUN CHOE was a member of the Associated Press team that won a Pulitzer Prize in 2000 for coverage of the Korean War’s No Gun Ri incident. He is currently the Korea correspondent for the International Herald Tribune. Chris CHRISTOPHER was the bureau chief in Korea for the Associated Press from 1999-2005. He is currently the AP’s bureau chief in Turkey. He graduated from Yale University.

Buy it and hold on to it!

Man oh man is this book hard to find. If you have the chance to pick it up, buy it and don't think twice. I have no clue why it is so rare but I know that Amazon is the only major online retailer that I can find it on. Moving on.

This book has much to laugh about. It ties in language, culture, and storytelling. You might read this book cover-to-cover and only take away a few memorable stories. I can guarantee you that some Koreans won;t even know the etymology of some of their own words/phrases but you sure as hell well.

It's endearing, funny, and entertaining. It's not exactly appropriate for language study as many of the proverbs and idioms don't exactly make their way into everyday conversation but the history behind these expressions will make you smile if nothing else.

The authors know what they are talking about and are not afraid to share some quirky information with you. Well done!

This book will make smile, laugh and think. It has a great many aphorism, proverbs, sayings that shows the true nature of both the traditional and the modern Korean people. One can smile in recognition of the truth of the sayings, laugh out loud at the earthy diction, and ponder over the similarity of the human condition. Well written book on a fascinating subject.

The Coming Mideast War and Peace Treaty

David Brennan, the author of Israel Omen 1 & 2, has brought to light interesting observations on world prophecy in his new book "The Coming Middle East War and Peace Treaty - The Unfolding Prophetic Puzzle." He received a BA degree in political science at the University of New Orleans. Since 1992 he has studied Bible Prophecy as it relates to current international events concerning Israel and the political implications of what is in store for us through prophecies of the Bible. As he sees it this coming chaos will affect every person on planet earth with sobering realizations along the way.

The Four Blood Moons & Eclipse

NASA computer models confirmed a rare "tetrad" of four blood moons in the heavenly skies taking place in the spring and fall of 2014 & 2015 with an earth darkening eclipse in the middle. The "tetrad" falls on Jewish Holy Days in spring and fall and signify something is about to change worldwide. David explains how these happened before to Israel and what followed was earth shattering.

Spectacle is Unfolding

Through a series of most unlikely events Barack Obama was zoomed from an Illinois senate seat into the nations White House in just four short years; some say the luckiest man alive. Geopolitical Shifts Occurring

Extreme geopolitical shifts are now happening at a rapid pace in the Middle East since the rise of Obama. A particular reading of Matthew 24:6, Joel 2: 30-31 & Joel 3:1-2, Luke 21:24-25, 1 Thessalonians 5:1-6 is causing an array of prophetic Scripture to take on a life of its own; it's fitting together like a thousand piece puzzle. This flow of sequential happenings portends a coming sequence of world shaking events alluded to in Revelation. Are we headed towards an Israeli-Iranian War? Then a great peace treaty with Palestine? Then on to the great war of Gog and Magog flowing into the great conflict at Armageddon? Is the stage being set with the four blood moons & eclipse signifying signs in the heavens of what is to come?

Essential Parts of the Book

Even though this is a short read of 175 pages nothing is left to chance. If you believe God wrote scripture than what is happening now on the world stage is pointing to what is to come. Israel has just sabotaged the nuclear reactor at Arak so it looks like their advancement into producing a nuclear bomb has again been delayed.

In Matthew 24:6-7 it focuses on wars and rumors of war but states that the end is not yet and that these things are just the first birth pangs of what is yet to come means we are only at the beginning of what is called the end times. At the tail end of Brennan's book he explains the sequence of prophetic events that are to occur right before Christ returns to set up his kingdom.

Is this real? Are things going to change to the point living will be chaotic and unfulfilling? What will happen to Christians? When will the rapture come about? Where are we headed from here? These are all questions that the author gives a good attempt to answer. For the most part everything is according to scripture and he has 14 pages of reference to back his claims.

Evaluation

This is an excellent book on what is exactly ahead written in AP style and an easy read. I would give David's book a five star because of the information involved; the timing of the release of the events making it relevant to right now; how it will involve the whole citizenry of earth and how it will affect each and every one.

Conclusion

David Brennan has come through again with an excellent up to the moment capsule of turning world events into a deadly spiral of moral chaos, earth shaking revelations, and a toxic downward spiral into the abyss of delusional reasoning. In the beginning of the end times according to scripture it says "they will call evil good and good evil." We have now entered the start of that time. May God help us.

From the fundamentalist right to the feminist left, opinions about the changing nature of the family--and the consequent rethinking of gender roles--have been vehement, if not always very well-founded.
In Family Man, sociologist Scott Coltrane brings a wealth of compelling evidence to this debate over the American family. Drawing on his own extensive research and many fascinating interviews, Coltrane explodes many of the common myths about shared parenting, provides first-hand accounts of men's and women's feelings in two-job families, and reveals some innovative solutions that couples have developed to balance job and family commitments. Readers will find an insightful discussion of precisely how and why family life has changed, what forms it may take in the future, and what new kinds of fathers may be on the horizon. The author firmly places these questions within a broad contextual framework. He provides, for instance, an illuminating history of the family that shows that, far from being a fixed structure, the family has always adapted to changing economic, social, and ideological pressures. And by examining how families operate in a variety of non-industrial societies, he demonstrates that our own notions of gender-specific work and parenting roles are culturally rather than biologically determined, and thus inherently flexible. And indeed these roles are changing. While contemporary American women still perform the bulk of domestic tasks, Family Man gives us decisive evidence that men are becoming increasingly involved in both housework and childrearing. Coltrane argues convincingly that this trend will continue. Given the current economic situation--with two-job households now the norm--and the gradual ideological shift away from restrictive gender roles, more and more couples will find it both necessary and desirable to share the workload. More important, Coltrane suggests that as fathers participate more fully in raising their children and performing traditionally female household tasks, men will themselves be transformed by the experience in profoundly positive ways and American society as a whole will move closer to true gender equity.
Family Man succeeds brilliantly in bringing clarity, perspective, and above all hope to a discussion that is too often shrill, chaotic, and beset with the rhetoric of nostalgia. It shows us not only exactly where the family is today, but where it has been and what it may become.

Attempting broadly to survey issues surrounding men as partners, husbands, and fathers, this text has a major flaw that stems from the author's embrace of a dogmatic feminist approach to masculinity. Coltrane (coeditor of Sociology of Marriage and the Family, Nelson-Hall, 1995. 4th ed.) synthesizes a tremendous amount of sociological material, mostly secondary sources post-1980. He also has interviewed couples in search of practical solutions to domestic inequalities, making many valid points, e.g., "when men and women share family work, the entire society benefits." But Coltrane loses his grip when he offhandedly dismisses Robert Bly's work as "mythopoetic separatism," an interpretation based on media misrepresentation. He is generally dismissive of men's issues, simply stating, for example, that "giving custody to unwed fathers will make women's and children's lives even more difficult." A lot of attention has been focused recently on the role of the father in the family. Companies have established policies on paternity leave, newspapers feature articles on househusbands, and parenting magazines now target male readers. On the other hand, the public's perception of fathers who take time out to help raise families and assist with household duties is likely to be colored by sitcom plots and Mr. Mom caricatures. Now Coltrane, coauthor of Sociology of Marriage and the Famil y (1991) and assistant sociology professor at University of California at Riverside, takes an in-depth, serious look at the role of the male in the family. He documents the historical division of labor between husband and wife before investigating shared parenting practices that have become more commonplace in those families where two parents have jobs. Because research has previously involved mostly white, middle-class families, Coltrane also considers Mexican American households. He concludes with a look at social trends and attempts to predict their effect on the future of the family. David Rouse

Scott Coltrane continues to deny that his research (this BOOK) has any value - he refuses to grant any leave whatsoever to his UO graduate employees. Buy a book from someone who is willing to listen to their own research.

Hypocrisy

Scott Coltrane is a hypocrite and this work is insincere. His scholarship calls for gender equity and paid leave for working parents, but now that he is the Interim President at University of Oregon, he has failed to put his beliefs into practice, by denying these benefits to graduate teachers.

Konstanza Morning Star (Washington, DC) is an ordained minister, certified medium, and national spiritualist teacher credentialed through the National Spiritualist Association of Churches. EVERYONE Can Do This!!

Using the systematic steps presented in this book, I now communicate regularly with spirit! Ms. Morning Star has written a thoughtful, comprehensive, honest, and simple guide that removes the mystery and misconceptions about spirit contact and clearly and straightforwardly tells you how to do it!

Below is just a sample of the many significant and informative facts and concepts covered in this most interesting and entertaining how-to book:

-Everyone possesses innate mediumship ability. The Introduction states: “Most people don’t think they have the ability to communicate with the spirit world, simply because they don’t know what to look for.” “By describing how mediums perceive the spirit people through the spiritual senses, I will help you begin to understand what to look for in your own development.” Well, she not only tells you what to look for, and how to reach your mediumship potential, she meticulously guides you, literally, step-by-step through a system proven successful by her many students.

-How mediumship works. Ms. Morning Star explains that spirit communication can be likened to the transmission and reception of invisible, electromagnetic radio waves. Spirit people are “. . . broadcasting at an energy frequency that the medium can receive.” And that “The spirit people are unable to broadcast through dense matter such as negativity, fear, doubt and heavy emotions. Mediums can be blocked from connecting with the spirit world when they hold certain fears, attitudes, anger, or negativity.”

-There are nine natural laws that govern spirit communication. For example, the law of conservation of energy states that “. . . the total energy of a system is constant, even though the system itself experiences internal changes.” So when a person dies “. . . the spark of life that animated the physical body is neither lost nor destroyed – and it does not forget its personal identity or life experience.” So “. . . in life you are spirit, just as are the people in the spirit world.” And, since “You are spirit . . . As spirit you can access the spirit realms, though chances are that no one has ever told you that.” Another example is the law of free will. “This law establishes that human beings have free will and that no spirit person is allowed to interfere with yours. No spirit person is able to possess or control you against your will.”

-Wonderfully effective affirmations are provided. For example, “I am open to contact with the spirit world” and “I am a clear conduit for spirit communication.”

-The author presents and thoroughly explains her dependable nine-step system for communicating with the spirit world, including relaxing the body (Step 1), attunement with the Divine (Step 5) and extending your awareness beyond your body (Step 7).

I LOVED this book. Very clear and broken down into easy steps with tons of exercises. Instead of the entire book being all about her experiences (something a lot of "how-to" books do), she explains how you can establish connections to the spirit world yourself and the means in which you may receive information! Very useful and full of information. I would recommend this to any aspiring medium.
